Myofunctional therapy is a specialized, noninvasive treatment that focuses on retraining the muscles of the face, mouth, and tongue to function properly. It addresses improper oral habits such as tongue thrusting, mouth breathing, oral motor hypotonia and incorrect swallowing patterns, which can impact breathing, speech, sleep quality, and dental alignment.
Through guided exercises, oral habit awareness and training, and behavior modification, myofunctional therapy improves muscle strength, coordination, and posture. These work to support better breathing, improve tongue posture, reduce symptoms of sleep-disordered breathing, headaches, and TMJ symptoms. In some cases, additional manual therapy, postural support, intra-oral techniques, external jaw release may also be needed. Not to worry, we do that too!
So welcome! You’re in the right place to breathe easier, smile brighter, and feel happy.
